Execute Query: no results shown

Postby shanghaielaine » Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:56 am

I just downloaded a free version of DbSchema to try out and found it quite cool.

I have a small problem though:
When I execute query, there is no results shown in the result tab although it indicates that there are rows found.

But if I run the same query with "execute script", the rows are shown in text form in the result tab.
If I "Save Actual Records" from the tab of "Execute Query", there are results saved in the file. So the results are there but just not shown in the tab. Why is that?

Thanks...

Hi,

It should display the result, can you please see the output log if there is any error? You can find it under the tools main menu, output log,
if there is any error you can post it here, also if you can tell me on what database you are working on and java version installed on your PC.
Thanks

Hi Donose,

thank you for your reply. I pasted the log below. I've got jdk 1.6.0_17.
connecting to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 as you can see in the log.
At the beginning I thought it might be the licence problem so I purchased a license yesterday. But the problems are not gone.

I'd like to let you know 2 other problems.

The first is similar to what I already reported: when I edit tables, the columns are also not shown in the editing window. I made a screenshot as attached.

The second : when I click on the drop down menus (project, edit, etc.), the drop down list is not shown until I position the mouse above through where the list ought to be. For example, if I just click on Project, there is nothing shown, and I need to put the mouse from row the row (new .... exit) to let them appear.

Here are all the problems I encountered so far.

I look forward to your help.

Kind regards

Hi,

For the 1st issue and what i'm seeing the output log it's clearly a bug, will try to reproduce it as well in our test lab.
For the second issue, try to change DbSchema Look & Feel (Top Menu -> Help -> Look & Feel) or from the button in the right corner down (i'll post a screenshot).

I submitted a ticket for the 1st issue already, it should be fixed in the next update.

I would also suggest you to update to the beta version ( Go to Edit -> Configuration -> Automatic Updates -> Update Source -> Beta ).
It's a beta released one week ago.

If i can help you with anything else please let me know.
Thanks,

Mihai

Hi Mihai, thanks for the reply.

I just uninstalled the program and downloaded the zip package, then the first problem is gone. Might this give some hints for the debugging?

For the second problem: I changed the look and feel as you mentioned from the HELP menu and it worked, thanks.

Kind regards,

Thanks for posting,

Even if the first issue isn't reproducing for you we will still have to investigate so other users won't have the same issue.

If i can help you with anything else please let me know.

Best Regards,

Mihai

Just a quick questions. I can't seem to find the Look and Feel icon at the lower right corner of the window? How can I make it show?
Why keeping data gives art??? Image

Hi,

It should be displayed in the lower right corner (please let me know what OS your using and what dbschema version Help -> about).
Another way you can change the look & feel is by going to the Edit menu -> Diagram Skin).

Please see the attached pictures.
